Northfield, VT- The #3 seeded Dean College women's lacrosse team fell in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinals to #2 seeded Norwich University by a final score of 18-6. With the loss, the Bulldogs officially conclude the 2025 campaign.
the first quarter began with a fight until the last second. Norwich established the opening lead, securing two goals within the first ten minutes of action. However, with just over one minute remaining, the Bulldogs responded to tie.
Haley Gaunt (Johnston, RI) got on the board first with an unassisted goal, followed by
Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, PA) scored a goal of her own. The Cadets scored one more goal at the buzzer to go up 3-2 after one quarter of action.
The Bulldogs tied the game to open the scoring in the second, with Mock finding the back of the net again. However, it would be Norwich responding again halfway through, posting two straight goals. a man-up goal from Gaunt, assisted by
Alisha Caldeira (West Bridgewater, MA), would bring the score back within one. But alas, the Cadets would score three unanswered goals to end the half leading 9-4.
In the second half, Norwich would dominate in scoring, finishing with another 9-4 scoring advantage over Dean. They opened the third with two straight goals, cutoff by Mock's third of the afternoon. However, they would go-on to score four more goals shortly after. Mock would add her impressive fourth goal of the game in the fourth quarter, but that would be the final point for Dean. Norwich would finish with three more goals to seal the game by a score of 18-6.
Offensively, Mock took the charge for the Bulldogs scoring four points entirely from goals. Gaunt was shortly behind, netting two goals. Caldeira's assist on the power play would be the only other point for Dean.
Shea Cassani (Belgrade, ME) took the loss in-goal after making 14 saves in the contest.
