Franklin, MA- The Dean College softball team secured their first series sweep of the season, taking down Vermont State University: Johnson. The team won game one by a score of 8-3 and game two by a score of 8-0. With the pair of victories, the bulldogs now move to 9-17 (2-10) in 2025.
Game One: Dean College 8, Vermont State Johnson 3
While Dean did take the series opener, it would be the Badgers striking first in the ballgame. A trio of runs between the first and third innings would give them the early advantage. However, the Bulldogs would slam the door from here on out, scoring eight unanswered runs to take the ballgame.
Leah Chamberlain (Burlington, VT) would get the party started, roping an RBI double to score
Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, MA). A walk by
Natalie Hayes (Brewster, NY) and sacrifice flyout by
Emily Kilpatrick (Marion, MA) would score additional runs for Dean.
Katrina Lee (Brookline, NH) would cap-off a four-run inning with an RBI single.
Dean would score three more runs in the fifth inning.
Liana Silva (New Britain, CT) would score an RBI single, followed by another RBI by Hayes. Then,
Xandra Silva (New Britain, CT) would return her sisters favor with a sacrifice flyout, scoring a run and making it 8-3. This would eventually turn to be the final score and mark Dean victorious.
Bryce DeGasparre (Attleboro, MA) would take the win in the circle for Dean.
Game Two: Dean College 8, Vermont State Johnson 0
After posting eight runs in the first game, Dean would follow-up with a spitting image in game two. Ramos would start the scoring in the first, scoring an RBI single to bring in a run. Chamberlain also brought in a run thanks to a bal in play. Kilpatrick and X. Silva would come into the picture again in the second inning, pushing two more runs across.
JJ Greene (New Bedford, MA) would record a sacrifice flyout, bringing in the fifth run. She would continue her success in the fifth, roping an RBI double to bring in one. Dean's final two runs came in the bottom of the fifth when X. Silva launched an RBI triple, capping an impressive afternoon.Â
Hayes took the shutout win in the circle in game two. Offensively, Ramos led the way in game two, posting a 3-3 performance with a run scored. Both Greene and Kilpatrick also posted two hits each.
The Bulldogs will look to continue their winning streak against Albertus Magnus, now approaching their final weekend of the season.
