Softball Swept by Regis College in Thursday Series

Franklin, MA- The Dean College softball team lost in both contests to Regis College Thursday afternoon. The Bulldogs fell short in seven full innings by a score of 9-7 in game one, and fell 8-1 in game two. With the series loss, the Bulldogs drop to 5-16 (0-9) on the season, while Regis moves to 10-18 (4-10).

Game One: Regis College 9, Dean College 7
Regis took an early lead with a two-run homer by Mel Rees in the first inning. However, Dean vastly responded in the fifth inning, scoring four runs on a series of errors and a double by Ari Amaral (Attleboro, MA). Although the Bulldogs led the game 7-4 in the final frame, Regis regained control with five runs in the seventh inning, including a two-run double and a two-run single. With a blank bottom half, the Bulldogs fell short by a final score of 9-7.

Offensively, Amaral led the Bulldogs with her double and RBI. Xandra Silva (New Britain, CT), Katrina Lee (Brookline, NH), and Alyssa Ribarovski (Sydney Austrailia) also recorded two hits each. Bryce DeGasparre (Attleboro, MA) took the loss for the Bulldogs in the circle.

Game Two: Regis College 8, Dean College 1
Regis jumped to an early lead in the first inning, scoring three runs on a two-RBI double by Lynsey Kay and an RBI single by Madigan Lawler. The Pride added two more runs in the second inning, with Motto grounding out to second to bring in one run, and Rees doubling to score another. Dean's lone run came in the bottom of the second inning, when Leah Chamberlain (Burlington, VT) doubled to score Liana Silva (New Britain, CT). Regis continued to build their lead with one run in the fifth inning and another in the sixth, ultimately securing the 8–1 victory.

Madison Nereu (Wareham, MA) took the loss in the circle, pitching one and two thirds and allowing four earned runs. Natalie Hayes (Brewster, NY) took over afterward, allowing three earned runs on four strikeouts. Offensively, Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, MA) paved the way, going 3-3 in game two.

The Bulldogs go on the road on Saturday, April 19th, to face off against Norwich University in another Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) series. Start times are set for 12:00 and 2:00PM.
