Men's Lacrosse Falls Short in Close Battle with Lasers, 14-11

Franklin, MA- The Dean College men's lacrosse team fell short in a closely contested battle with Lasell University by a final score of 14-11. With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss, Dean moves to 10-3 (4-3) on the year, while Lasell moves to 9-4 (8-1).

The Bulldogs came out fast, with Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) scoring just 59 seconds into the game. A flurry of back-and-forth goals followed, including tallies by Aidan McCarthy (Whitman, MA), Owen Brine (Lebanon, NH), and Jason Richard (Holden, MA), propelled the game to a 5–5 tie after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Dean edged ahead thanks to more firepower from Alvarez-Segee, who recorded his third goal of the half. Brine also notched second score on the afternoon. The Bulldogs outscored Lasell 3–2 in the frame and carried an 8–7 lead into halftime. Six of Dean's eight goals in the half were also unassisted, quickly finding their way through Lasell's defense.

The third quarter saw each side net two goals. Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) got on the board while Brine netted his second score. However, the momentum began to tilt, with Lasell's Jack Condon and Sam Guilmette beginning to take over in transition. After three full quarters, the Bulldogs led by one, 10-9.

In the final frame, Lasell surged, scoring five times while limiting Dean to just one goal. Alvarez-Segee scored his fifth of the day, once again unassisted. Despite efforts by Dean's defense, Lasell capitalized on late turnovers and man-up chances to pull away. Lasell walked away victorious by a final score of 14-11.

Offensively, D. Alvarez-Segee led Dean's efforts, scoring seven points on five goals and two assists. Brine finished second in scoring on two goals, while M. Alvarez-Segee finished with a goal and assist. Three additional Bulldogs ended the day with one point each. Elijah Beland (Augusta, ME) ended with the loss, making three saves in the first half. Dane Duarte (Londonderry, NH) entered the pipes in the second half, making five saves.
