Franklin, MA- The Dean College men's lacrosse team moves to an impressive 4-0 (1-0) start after their Wednesday victory over Thomas College, 12-6. Thomas College sinks to 0-3 with the loss to the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs set the tone early, with senior attacker Jason Richard (Holden, MA) scoring an unassisted goal just 37 seconds into the game, leveling the score at 1-1 after Thomas College's initial goal.
Dean's offense dominated the first quarter, netting seven goals. Sophomore midfielder Aiden Anthony (Stoneham, MA) found the back of the net at 12:31, followed by Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, CT) scoring his first of three goals at 11:42. Freshman Josh Hackett (Orange, CT) contributed with a goal at 9:55, and Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) added another at 7:47. Speirs closed the quarter with two more goals, completing his hat trick and giving the Bulldogs a commanding 7-2 lead.
The second quarter saw Dean maintaining their momentum. Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) scored two consecutive goals at 10:32 and 5:48, extending the lead to 9-2. Thomas College managed to add one goal before halftime, but the Bulldogs entered the break with a comfortable 9-3 advantage.
After a scoreless third quarter for Dean, the Bulldogs regained their rhythm in the fourth. Anthony scored his second goal of the game at 14:12, followed by Joseph Marra (North Branford, CT) at 8:53. Diego Alvarez-Segee completed his hat trick with a goal at 6:47, sealing the 12-6 victory.
Both Speirs and Diego Alvarez-Segee led Dean's scoring with three goals each. Anthony followed closely behind with two goals and four shots on goal. Four other Bulldogs ended the day with one goal each. Goalkeeper Elijah Beland (Augusta, ME) finished the game with six saves and six goals allowed.
The Bulldogs will look to continue their momentum on Friday. They will travel to Albany, New York to play Russell Sage College under the lights at 7:00PM.
