Women's Basketball Drops Season Finale to Monks, 91-37

Standish, ME- The Dean College women's basketball team could not finish with the season with the win, losing to the Monks by a final score of 91-37. Dean ends the year with a 6-19 (1-12) record, while Saint Joseph's finishes at 19-6 (12-2).

Despite the challenging circumstances, senior guard Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, CA) led the Bulldogs with 14 points, shooting 5-of-16 from the field, including one three-pointer, and securing five rebounds. Junior forward Azaria Landry (Petersburg, VA) contributed 10 points and matched Paquet with five rebounds, while senior guard Maranda Cournoyer (Millville, MA) added two points and two assists.

The Monks' defense proved formidable, limiting the Bulldogs to 25.4% shooting from the field and 10% from beyond the arc. Saint Joseph's capitalized on Dean's 20 turnovers, converting them into 27 points, and dominated the paint with 44 points compared to Dean's 18.

The Bulldogs showed resilience in the second half, trying to chip away at the Monks' lead. Early in the third quarter, Paquet knocked down a mid-range jumper to get Dean on the board, followed by a strong drive to the basket by Landry for a tough layup through contact. Cournoyer provided energy on both ends, grabbing a steal that led to a fast-break opportunity, but the Bulldogs couldn't convert. Later in the quarter, Landry hit a turnaround jumper in the post, and Paquet sank a three-pointer from the wing to give Dean some momentum. However, Saint Joseph's continued to execute efficiently, preventing any significant comeback attempt from the Bulldogs.
