Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

USJ Scores in Final Minutes to Steal Win Against Men's Soccer, 1-2

West Hartford, CT- The Dean College Men's Soccer team lost on a goal in the 87th minute by the University of Saint Joseph (CT) on Tuesday evening, 1-2. With the loss, the Bulldogs now drop to 6-7-2 (5-4-0 GNAC), while the Blue Jays improve to 7-3-2 (6-0-2 GNAC).

How it Happened:
-The Blue Jays would be the first team to open on the attack. Nick Hamzavi would record back-to-back chances corner kicks, but neither would mount to a shot. Mario Milrado also had a chance up-front, but the ball sailed high of the goal. 
-Freshman Ayomide Talabi (Hamilton, NJ) would get Dean's first shot of the evening, but the chance was pushed wide of the goal. 
-From the 18th to the 23rd minute, the Blue Jays would continue to pepper the goal. USJ tallied six shots and one additional corner kick, but all were brilliantly stopped by Dean keeper Jake Godwin (Norwalk, CT).
-Quickly after the barrage by USJ, the Bulldogs would rush down the other end of the field, creating a header shot for John Pordage (Wayland, MA). However, Pordage pushed the header wide, keeping the match scoreless.
-The end of the first half would be a grudge match, with both sides eager to score first. Raul Maldonado (Spring Hill, FL) also drew the match's first yellow card in the process. However, after 45 minutes of action, the match stood at 0-0. 
-In the 49th minute, the Blue Jays would get the first goal of the match. Milrado would find the back of the net off an assist from Elis Sulollari. USJ now lheld a 1-0 advantage over Dean. 
-However, the Bulldogs went right back to work. Both Seamus Doherty (Chelmsford, MA) and Brian Allen (Fort Lauderdale, FL) drew corner kicks. This allowed two different shots by Felipe Castillo (Tampa, FL) and Ciaran Phibbs (Yonkers, NY). 
-After countless tries, Dean finally cracked the code in the 81st. Phibbs would score his third career goal from an assist by Castillo. The match was now tied 1-1 with just nine minutes to play.
-In the 87th minute, the Blue Jays wouls score the game-winning goal. Hamzavi would put one past Godwin, unassisted, to seal the 2-1 victory over Dean.
