PAXTON, MASS.- First-year standout
Emily Yazzetti (Mahopac, N.Y) continued her stellar play, scoring two goals, her eighth and ninth of the season, to propel the Dean College Bulldogs field hockey team past Anna Maria, 2-0 on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The win, Dean's second straight and fourth in their last six games, evens the Bulldogs record at 4-4 (2-1 GNAC). Anna Maria falls to 0-5 (0-2 GNAC).Â
After a scoreless first half, Yazzetti scored both of her goals in the span of three minutes to give the Bulldogs the initial lead, and then double it. Both goals were scored unassisted. Yazzetti's nine goals are currently second most in the conference, while her 20 points are good for third.
Fellow first-year
Sara Gardner (Hampstead, Md.) made her second career start in the goal and posted her second straight shutout, making three saves while holding the AmCats scoreless throughout the contest.
Dean outshot the hosts 19-3 and held an 8-2 advantage in penalty corners. In addition to Yazzetti's six shots, first-year
Emma Gragen (Brattleboro, Vt.) had six shots of her own, while junior
Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, Mass.) added three.Â
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday for more GNAC play when they host the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) at 4:00 p.m.Â
