WESTON, Mass. – April 27, 2024 – The Dean College softball team dropped both ends of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road doubleheader at Regis on Saturday. The Pride won 8-0 in six innings and 6-3.
Dean (3-27, 1-13 GNAC) will host Johnson & Wales tomorrow at noon for a GNAC doubleheader. Regis improves to 11-21 overall and 5-11 in the GNAC.
GAME ONE – Regis 8, Dean 0 (6 inn.)
After a scoreless first inning, Regis plated a pair in the second on two RBI singles. The Pride added two runs in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and ended the game with a run in the sixth.
Grace Motto led the Pride with three hits and a couple of runs scored. Abby Erickson knocked in three runs and scored twice, while Lexi Nichols contributed two hits and two runs.
Senior
Jilian Glynn (Londonderry, N.H.) recorded the lone hit in the game for the Bulldogs.
GAME TWO – Regis 6, Dean 3
In the second inning, Dean sophomore
Xandra Silva (New Britain, Conn.) doubled to left to drive in a pair to put the Bulldogs on top 2-0.
Mel Rees answered with a solo home run in the third to cut the Dean lead in half.
Regis then scored four times in the fourth to take a 5-2 advantage.
Silva brought in another run in the fifth when she drew a bases loaded walk to pull the Bulldogs within 5-3.
Rees got the run back in the sixth for the Pride of the 6-3 margin.
Sophomore
Liana Silva (New Britain, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Glynn added two more hits to her daily total.
Junior
Jessica Stewart (Banks, Ore.) went four innings and allowed just one earned run with three strikeouts. First-year
Bryce DeGasparre (Attleboro, Mass.) pitched the final two innings. She struck out three and surrendered one unearned run.
