Bulldogs Celebrate Senior Night with 3-0 Sweep of Fisher

FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 2, 2024 - The Dean College men's volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over Fisher by scores of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-18 on senior night inside Pieri Gymnasium.

Prior to the match, Dean honored seniors Maccus Dinsmore (Northborough, Mass.), Aaron Fonseca (West Warwick, R.I.) and Steve Mazza (Westchester, N.Y.) for their hard work and commitment to the men's volleyball program.

Dean (4-16) concludes the regular season with a conference tri-match on Saturday hosted by Elms. Fisher (0-17) heads to SUNY Potsdam for several matches against the Bears on Friday and Saturday.

Fonseca recorded a career-high double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs. Mazza came away with a career best nine kills. Dinsmore tallied three kills, an ace and an assist. Junior Nunu Coward-Jackson (Fresno, Calif.) filled the stat sheet with six kills, three aces, nine digs and a couple of blocks. First-year Koshown Dempsey (Waterbury, Conn.) posted career-highs of five kills and four digs. Sophomore Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) registered 30 assists, while first-year Luis Castillo (Houston, Texas) finished with 16 digs.

The Bulldogs trailed 7-5 in the early stages of the match, but behind strong serving from Coward-Jackson and six kills on .455 hitting the team pulled away for a convincing 25-12 win. Dean hit .310 as a team.

The second set featured four ties and four lead changes. The score was tied at 11-11 when Dean used a 7-2 run to create separation. A kill by Dempsey secured the 25-20 win for the Bulldogs. Mazza, Dempsey and Fonseca had three kills apiece in the set.

After the score was knotted at 6-6, Dean turned up the offense for seven straight points and a 13-6 lead. The Bulldogs were in front 24-18 when Fonseca sealed the senior night win with his 13th kill of the match.
