DUDLEY, Mass. - April 17, 2024 - The Dean College softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games at Nichols on Wednesday. The Bison won game one 8-0 and game two 16-2 both in five innings.
Dean returns home on Thursday to host Fitchburg State for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Nichols improves to 17-11.
GAME ONE - Nichols 8, Dean 0
The Bulldogs were held to three hits in the first game of the afternoon. Sophomore
Liana Silva (New Britain, Conn.), sophomore
Leah Chamberlain (Burlington, Vt.) and junior
Alyssa Ribarovski (Sydney, Australia) were each in the hit column.
Junior
Jessica Stewart (Banks, Ore.) pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up two unearned runs.
Nichols scored six times in the second and twice in the fourth for the 8-0 lead.
GAME TWO - Nichols 16, Dean 2
The Bison scored 16 runs on 19 hits to earn the sweep. They scored once in the first, six in the second, twice in the third and seven times in the fourth.
Dean's two runs came in the third when sophomore
Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, Mass.) belted her first home run knocking in sophomore
Xandra Silva (New Britain, Conn.) who reached on a single.
Ramos finished 2-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base.
Senior
Meredith Landers (Littleton, Mass.) also had a hit in the game.
