Bulldogs Finish Strong to Secure 15-6 Win over Elms

FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 17, 2024 – The Dean College men's lacrosse team outscored Elms 9-2 in the final three quarters to secure a 15-6 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division victory at Grant Field Wednesday afternoon.

Dean (9-4, 5-3 GNAC, 3-1 South) will celebrate senior day on Saturday with a 12 p.m. South Division matchup against Johnson & Wales. Elms (5-7, 3-5 GNAC, 2-3 South) travels to Lasell on Saturday.

Senior Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, Conn.) led the way with five goals and an assist for the Bulldogs. Senior Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) had five points with three goals and two assists. First-year Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) added two goals and an assist. Junior Chris Carbone Jr. (Cranston, R.I.) contributed six ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Luciano Jordan Canino was the lone multi-goal scorer for Elms with two.

Dean first-year Elijah Beland (Augusta, Maine) earned the win for Dean with 11 saves. Casey Dmochowski kept the Blazers close early on and finished with 20 saves.

In a high-scoring, back-and-forth first quarter the Bulldogs were able to come out in front with a 6-4 advantage. Speirs and Manny Alvarez-Segee scored twice for Dean, while Jordan Canino tallied both of his goals in the quarter.

Elms pulled within a goal early in the second, but Dean scored three times to close the frame, including a pair of man-up tallies, for a 9-5 lead at the half.

Speirs was responsible for both of the third quarter goals to put the home team on top 11-5.

The Bulldogs carried the momentum into the final frame to outscore Elms 4-1 to cruise to a 15-6 victory.
