PAXTON, Mass. – March 27, 2024 – The Dean College softball team dropped a pair of games at Anna Maria on Wednesday afternoon. The AMCATS won 6-2 and 8-0 (5 inn.) in games that did not count as conference contests.

Dean (0-10) is off until next Wednesday when the team will play at Wellesley. Anna Maria (7-7) opens conference action tomorrow at Saint Joseph (Conn.).

GAME ONE – Anna Maria 6, Dean 2

Sophomore Liana Silva (New Britain, Conn.) went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored to lead the Bulldogs. Sophomore Leah Chamberlain (Burlington, Vt.) and junior Katie Splaine (Tyngsborough, Mass.) recorded a hit apiece.

After the AMCATS scored a run in the first, Dean answered with a pair in the second. Splaine singled in Chamberlain then Silva later came around on an error. First year Bryce DeGasparre (Attleboro, Mass.) was credited with an RBI.

Anna Maria retook the lead with two runs in the third and then added a run in the fifth and a pair in the sixth for the 6-2 win.

GAME TWO – Anna Maria 8, Dean 0 (5 inn.)

Sabrina Liston of Anna Maria tossed a perfect 5-inning game to propel the home team to the 8-0 win.

The game was scoreless until Anna Maria erupted for six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the third. The AMCATS scored a run in the fourth and then ended the game with a run in the fifth.
