BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – March 26, 2024 – The Dean College softball team dropped both ends of Tuesday's non-conference doubleheader at Massachusetts Maritime. The Buccaneers won game one 9-4 and took game two 11-3 in six innings.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday for a twin bill at Anna Maria beginning at 2:30 pm. These games will not count towards the conference standings.
GAME ONE – Mass. Maritime 9, Dean 4
Junior
Alyssa Ribarovski (Sydney, Australia) went 2-for-4 with a couple of stolen bases. Senior
Meredith Landers (Littleton, Mass.) was on base three times with two hits and a walk. She also scored twice and drove in a run. First-year
Emily Kilpatrick (Marion, Mass.) also reached base three times with two hits and a walk.
Ribarovski got the Bulldogs on the board in the first after she stole second and came around on a throwing error.
The Bucs took a 2-1 lead after their first at-bat.
Dean scored single runs in the second and third for a 3-2 lead before the home team struck for three runs in the bottom of the third.
The home team added three runs in the fourth for the 8-3 lead.
Each team scored a run in the sixth for the 9-4 final.
GAME TWO – Mass. Maritime 11, Dean 3
Sophomore
Liana Silva (New Britain, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomore
Leah Chamberlain (Burlington, Vt.) scored a run and had a couple of hits. Senior
Jilian Glynn (Londonderry, N.H.) had a triple and led the team with two RBIs.
Glynn knocked in
Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, Mass.) with an RBI groundout in the first.
MMA scored an unearned run in the bottom of the frame to tie the game.
The Bucs scored a run in the second and two in the third for a 4-1 lead.
Dean pulled within a run in the top of the sixth by plating a pair. Glynn tripled home Chamberlain and then scored on a Silva single to right.
MMA took advantage of some Dean miscues, scoring seven times, with five unearned runs to end the game after six innings with an 11-3 final score.
