FRANKLIN, Mass. – March 19, 2024 - The Dean College men's volleyball team was defeated by Emmanuel, 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Tuesday night inside Pieri Gymnasium. The Saints won by scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-15.
Dean (3-10, 0-6 GNAC) hosts a conference tri-match against top-ranked Wentworth and Elms on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Emmanuel (12-6, 5-2 GNAC) plays at Wentworth on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Sophomore
Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) tallied seven assists, two kills and a block for the Bulldogs. First-year
Luis Castillo (Houston, Texas) and sophomore
Arthur Felicio (Governador Valadares, Brazil) each picked up six digs. Felicio added three kills.
Emmanuel was paced by senior Leonard Kim's (Los Angeles, Calif.) six kills on .455 hitting. First-year Quincy Moore (Winchester, Mass.) ran the offense with 29 assists. Sophomore Trey Guest (Newington, Conn.) contributed five kills on .714 hitting to go with a team best six digs.
The Saints hit .769 with 11 kills and added seven aces to take the first set by a 25-11 margin.
The second set began with back-and-forth action and was tied at 5-5. Emmanuel then went on a 9-1 run to create separation. Guest registered four of Emmanuel's 13 kills as the team hit .400 to come away with the 25-12 win.
The Bulldogs had their best offensive output in the third set with seven kills. Armitage, Felicio and sophomore
Jerney Price (San Antonio, Texas) had two kills apiece. Emmanuel scored the first three points of the set and never looked back en route to the 25-15 triumph in the third to clinch the match.
