Men's Volleyball Falls to Emerson

FRANKLIN, Mass. – February 29, 2024 - The Dean College men's volleyball team fell to Emerson 25-13, 25-7 and 25-18 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action inside Pieri Gymnasium Thursday evening.

Dean (3-8, 0-5 GNAC) hits the road on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. first serve at MIT. Emerson (3-9, 1-4 GNAC) travels to Lasell on Tuesday.

Sophomore Arthur Felicio (Governador Valadares, Brazil) led the Dean with seven kills on .278 hitting to go with a team best nine digs. Sophomore Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) posted four kills and 19 assists. Senior Aaron Fonseca (West Warwick, R.I.) also had four kills.

Emerson sophomore Chase Fagen (Rye, N.Y.) led all players with 11 kills on .364 hitting. Junior Ramsis De Los Santos (Lawrence, Mass.) hit .667 to finish with five kills.

In the first set, Fagen registered six of Emerson's 18 kills to help the Lions win 25-13. Emerson raced out to a 16-9 lead and forced a Dean timeout. The visitors finished strong with a 9-4 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match.  

Emerson carried the momentum into the second set to take a 15-1 lead. The Lions hit .588 with 10 kills and no errors en route to a 25-7 win. Fonseca and Armitage each had a couple of kills for Dean in the set.  

The Bulldogs battled in the third set as the teams went back-and-forth in the early stages. Emerson was on top 16-12 before Dean pulled within a pair after a Felicio ace. The Lions closed the frame on a 9-4 run to take the set 25-18 and the match 3-0. Felicio had four kills for Dean.
