Women's Basketball Defeated by Saint Joseph's on Senior Day

FRANKLIN, Mass. – February 17, 2024 – The Dean College women's basketball team fell to Saint Joseph's (Maine), 73-26, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season finale.

Prior to the game, Dean honored seniors Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Maddie Foster (North Attleboro, Mass.) for their years of hard work and dedication to the women's basketball program.

The Bulldogs end their season at 2-22 overall and 0-14 in the GNAC. Saint Joseph's improves to 18-7 overall and 14-0 in conference action to earn the top seed in next week's GNAC Tournament.

Junior Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) had a team-high nine points for Dean. First-year Makayla Swan (Middlebury, Vt.) tallied four points and five rebounds. Thomas finished with two points, three rebounds and three steals.

Maddie Lebel led all players with 15 points. Angelica Hurley was next on the Monks with 12 points. Grace Ramsdell added six points and a game-high seven rebounds.

1st Quarter
  • The visitors shot 50% from the floor and made four three-pointers to lead 24-0.
  • Rasmdell and Hurley had six points apiece for the Monks.
2nd Quarter
  • The Monks scored eight second chance points to increase their lead to 44-12 at the half.
  • Dean made 2-of-3 from long range and all four free throw attempts.
  • Viau had five points to lead the Bulldogs.
  • Lebel scored nine points to lead Saint Joseph's.  
3rd Quarter
  • Each team made four field goals in the third. The difference came at the line where Saint Joseph's made four free throws.
  • Swan had four points for Dean.
4th Quarter
  • The Monks shot 50% (6-12) to outscore Dean 15-6 in the final frame.
  • First-year Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.)  made a three-pointer for the Bulldogs.
