BOSTON, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs women's volleyball team dropped both ends of a tri-match on a Saturday, falling to Emmanuel 3-1 and University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) 3-0. Despite the losses, Dean still qualified for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoffs, earning a ninth seed in the ten team tournament.
Dean lost the opening match to Emmanuel 3-1. The hosts took the opening game 25-18, but Dean bounced back in the second set, winning a thriller 29-27. Emmanuel responded in the following set, winning 26-24 in a tightly contested battle. The hosts closed out the fourth set 25-15 to take the match.
Dean was led by senior
Janai Price (Providence, R.I.) who finished with 16 kills and nine digs.
Emily Ball (Feeding Hills, Mass.) added nine kills, while sophomore
Chloe Demaio (Needham, Mass.) recorded seven kills and 3 block assists. Senior
Anabella Driscoll (Plymouth, Mass.) had 37 assists.
In the second game, the Bulldogs fell to USJ 3-0. Dean dropped the opening game 25-14. In the second game, USJ broke open a 19-19 tie by scoring six of the final eight points to take a 25-21 victory. The Blue Jays controlled the final set, earning a 25-18 victory.
Price again led the Bulldogs with seven kills. First-year
Maddy Seymour (Simsbury. Conn.) added five, while
Skylar Raskevitz (Easthampton, Mass.) led the Bulldogs with 13 digs.
9th place Dean (10-16 overall, 6-9 GNAC) will travel to 8th seeded Colby-Sawyer on Monday for a 7 p.m. start in the GNAC Tournament Play-In.
