Women's Soccer Defeated By Falcons, 2-0

FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Albertus Magnus on Wednesday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on a beautiful fall afternoon at Grant Field.

Albertus struck first in the 33rd minute, scoring on a goal from Tyler Stocking, assisted by Taya Bagley. The 1-0 score held through the end of the half, as the teams entered the break with a one-goal split. The Falcons outshot Dean 11-3 in the first-half and held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) kept the Bulldogs within striking distance with four first half saves.

In the second half, the visitors doubled their advantage on a goal from Addie Lamond, her third of the season, assisted by Brooklyn Gonzalez, in the 66th minute. Dean threatened, and appeared to score a goal to cut the lead in half when senior Lisette Ayala's (Chicopee, Mass.) thrown-in bounced through the box and into the Albertus goal, but the score was disallowed after it was ruled that no other player touched the ball. The Falcons controlled possesion late and thwarted away any Bulldog chances to preserve the 2-0 lead and the win.

Gaunt finished with seven saves and two goals allowed. Albertus held a 20-6 edge in total shots, and a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.  Sophomore Miro McIntyre Clere (Sydney, Australia) and Ayala both finished with multiple shots for the Bulldogs.

Dean (2-10-3 overall, 1-9-3 GNAC) is back in action on Friday when they host Norwich University at 3 p.m. as part of homecoming festivites.
