Football Stopped By Alfred State In ECFC Matchup

ALFRED, N.Y.- The Dean College Bulldogs fell to Alfred State 58-0 in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) action on Saturday afternoon in upstate New York.

After a scoreless first quarter that featured two Bulldog drives inside the Alfred State red zone that came up empty, the Pioneers found the end zone on a seven yard touchdown run by Josh Graham with 12 minutes to play in the second. The hosts tacked on three more at the end of the half on a 32 yard field goal by Alexander Caulfield as time expired, entering the break with a 10-0 lead.

In the second half, the Pioneers exploded, scoring 48 points to put the game out of reach. It started right away, when Chase Shepanski took the first play from scrimmage 63 yards to the house to give Alfred the 16-0 lead. First-year Elijah Walker (Upper Marlboro, Md.) blocked the ensuing PAT try to keep the score at Pioneer score at 16.  Dean fumbled the ensuing kickoff, however, giving Alfred the ball back at the Bulldog 24 yard line. Five players later, Noah Currier broke through the line for a four yard touchdown. The extra point gave the Pioneers a 23-0 lead. Five minutes later, Nicholas Cuomo finished another Alfred State drive with a touchdown, plunging in from a yard out to push the hosts lead to 30-0. After Dean quarterback Amari Harris (New Bedford, Mass.) was intercepted by Silas Engelauf and returned to the Bulldog 7 yard line, Currier scampered seven yards for another touchdown to put the game out of reach.

Dean was led by Brayden Prasse (San Antonio, Texas,) who finished with 68 yards on 20 carries. Harris completed six balls for 83 yards, while Da'Qwon Foster (Providence, R.I.) led the Bulldog receiving core with four grabs for 76 yards. Isaac Dorlean (Miramar, Fla.), Joe Penton (Manassas Park, Va.) and Walker led Dean with six tackles a piece. Walker added a forced fumble and the aforementioned blocked kick.

Dean is back in action on Saturday for homecoming weekend, when they host Galludet University at 12:00 p.m.
