FARMINGTON, Maine – January 4, 2024 – The Dean College men's basketball team fell at the University of Maine-Farmington, 95-77, Thursday evening in the Dearborn Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (5-7) resumes conference action on Saturday with a 3 p.m. tilt at Elms. UMF improves to 8-4 and will host Husson on Monday.
Seniors
AJ Weston (Kansas City, Mo) and
Charles Walker (Princeton, N.C.) each made nine buckets to finish with 21 points apiece to lead the Bulldogs. Weston added seven assists. Junior
Deon Blakemore Jr. (Houma, La.) contributed 11 points, four rebounds and four assists.
UMF was led by Will Harriman's game-high 30 points and nine boards. Simon Chadbourne made six deep shots for 18 points, while Zachary Mickle recorded 15 points.
Nearly half of the Beavers' 34 made baskets came from beyond the arc as the home team shot 51.6% from three-point range (16-31).
Dean shot 53.6% from the floor in the first half to only trail by four (44-40) after 20 minutes. Weston led the Bulldogs with 13 points in the frame. Harriman had 15 points for the Beavers. UMF made seven treys and was 5-5 from the free throw line to help build the halftime lead.
In the second half, UMF shot 9-of-15 from beyond the arch. Harriman and Chadbourne combined for 30 points, 15 apiece, thanks to 8-of-11 shooting from long range. Walker made 6-of-8 from the floor for 14 points to pace the Bulldogs in the second.
