BROOKLINE, Mass. - January 30, 2024 - The Dean College men's volleyball team picked up its first win of 2024 with a 3-0 road victory over Fisher. The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-15.
Dean (1-3) resumes conference action on Thursday when the team travels to play the top-ranked Wentworth Leopards at 6 p.m. Fisher (0-4) will travel to Vermont State University-Johnson on Saturday.
Senior
Aaron Fonseca (West Warwick, R.I.) came away with a career-high 13 kills to lead the Bulldogs. Sophomore
Arthur Felicio (Governador Valadares, Brazil) finished with seven kills and a career-high 12 digs. Sophomore
Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) tallied 17 assists and six digs. First-year
Luis Castillo (Houston, Texas) recorded a season best 21 digs.
The teams traded the first several points before Fisher took a 7-6 lead. The Bulldogs responded with a 10-1 run to take command of the set. The Falcons pulled within five at 21-16, but Dean scored four of the next six points to take the first 25-18. Felicio and Fonseca each had five kills to help the Bulldogs to the first set victory.
The Bulldogs scored the first four points of the second, but Fisher rattled off the next five. The Falcons later held a 16-11 lead before Dean scored eight unanswered for a 19-16 advantage. The Falcons cut the lead to one, but the Bulldogs scored the final four points to win the set, including a pair of kills from
Nunu Coward-Jackson (Fresno, Calif.), 25-19.
The third set was closely played until Dean used a 4-0 spurt to take an 18-12 lead. Fisher scored the next three, but Dean responded with the next seven to secure the 25-15 victory.
