FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College Athletics Department has announced this year's winners of the Thomas "Butchie" Williams '75 and Michelle Porter '90 awards which are presented to the athletes of the year.
Senior
Jazzy Sztyler-Magee (Burlington, Conn.) has been named the 2022-23 Michelle Porter '90 Athlete of the Year. A team captain for both the soccer and lacrosse teams, Sztyler-Magee posted impressive offensive numbers for each squad. She led the Dean soccer team with single-season records of 12 goals and 24 points. Sztyler-Magee was voted to the All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Third Team as one of the top forwards in the conference. Among GNAC players, she ranked fifth in goals and ninth in points. Sztyler-Magee recorded three hat tricks during the season and had a pair of game-winning goals. In lacrosse, Sztyler-Magee was second on the team with 58 points on 45 goals and 13 assists in 13 games played. In the second week of the season, the senior was named GNAC Player of the Week. Sztyler-Magee was an integral part of a record-setting season for the lacrosse team that went 9-9 overall and 7-6 in conference action. The team secured the sixth seed to become the first Dean women's program to make a GNAC Tournament appearance. Sztyler-Magee also picked up honors for her work in the classroom and was named GNAC All-Academic and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.

Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) has been named the 2022-23 Thomas "Butchie" Williams '75 Athlete of the Year. Alvarez-Segee turned in another impressive season for the men's lacrosse team and guided the squad to a 10-6 overall record, a 5-5 conference record and the program's first appearance in a GNAC Tournament semifinal game. The attacker earned All-GNAC First Team accolades for the second year in a row after leading the Bulldogs for the third straight season in points and goals. Alvarez-Segee finished the year with 88 points on 67 goals and 21 assists. Alvarez-Segee, a three-time GNAC Player of the Week in 2023, led all conference players in goals and points. In GNAC games only, Alvarez-Segee set the pace with 39 goals and was second with 51 points. He scored in 14 of the 16 games with a season best nine goals in a 17-10 win over Sage. He also scored seven times to help the Bulldogs to a GNAC quarterfinal win over Saint Joseph's, which was the first GNAC tournament victory by a Dean program. In a tough 10-9 overtime loss at top-seed Emmanuel in the semifinals, Alvarez-Segee pulled the Bulldogs even at 9-9 with a goal in the fourth quarter. For his efforts in the postseason, he was named to the All-Tournament Team. At season's end, Alvarez-Segee ranked fourth in the nation with 4.25 goals per game and 17th in points per game with 5.44.
