Lasell Takes Two From Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 6, 2023 - The Dean College softball team was defeated by Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South doubleheader on Thursday. Lasell took game one 7-0 and game two 6-2 in eight innings.   

Dean (2-17-1, 0-4 GNAC SOUTH) travels to Johnson & Wales on Saturday for a twin bill beginning at noon. Lasell (14-8, 4-0 GNAC SOUTH) hosts Saint Joseph's on Saturday at noon.

GAME ONE: Lasell 7, Dean 0

After two scoreless innings, Lasell struck for four runs on six hits and an error in the top of the third. Ally Kirck tripled in a run and scored on a throwing error. Grace Stephenson then doubled home Mackenzie Still. Angelena Piers followed with an RBI single.

Kirck scored in the fourth on an Eryn Sheeley double to give the Lasers a 5-0 lead.

Kirck knocked in single runs in the sixth and seventh to make the score 7-0.

Emily Mestas and Kirck each went 3 for 5.

Junior Jilian Glynn (Londonderry, N.H.) went 2 for 3 to lead the Bulldogs.

Sheeley got the win for Lasell throwing a complete game 3-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

GAME TWO: Lasell 6, Dean 2 (8 inn.)

Dean put the first run on the board in the fourth when senior Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) singled home senior Alex Marie (Danvers, Mass.).

Lasell tied the game in the sixth by scoring on an error.

In the top of the eighth, the Lasers struck for five runs, all unearned, to take a 6-1 lead.

Dean got one back in the bottom of the inning when sophomore Shirley Chan (Kowloon, Hong Kong) scored on a wild pitch, but the next two batters were retired to end the game.

Marie finished 2 for 4 to lead the Dean hitters.

Glynn took the complete game loss but did not give up an earned run.

Abigail Fortin earned the victory with eight strikeouts for the Lasers.
