NEW LONDON, Conn. – April 25, 2023 – The Dean College women's lacrosse team had nine players score at least one goal in Tuesday's 21-3 non-conference win at Mitchell.
Dean (8-8) will conclude the regular season tomorrow with a 4 p.m. conference game at Norwich. Mitchell (3-8), who will be a conference member next season, wraps up its season on Saturday at New England College.
Senior
Maire Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) posted seven points on four goals and three assists to lead the Bulldogs. Senior
Allie Bezio (Wellfleet, Mass.), sophomore
Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.), sophomore
Natalie Peterson (Hudson, Mass.) and sophomore
Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) each scored three times. Junior defender
Mackenzie Fillion (New Bedford, Mass.) notched her first collegiate goal.
Danielle Holland scored all three of Mitchell's goals.
First-year goalie
Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) increased her program record win total to eight with nine saves. Hannah Gomes had 13 saves for the Mariners.
The Bulldogs scored 12 times in the first quarter and never looked back. Six different Bulldogs had goals in the quarter with Gaunt leading the way with three.
Dean scored the first three goals of the second, including one by
Gabbie Taynor (Newburyport, Mass.), to take a 15-0 lead. Holland then got Mitchell on the board with a goal at the 6-minute mark.
The Bulldogs would outscore Mitchell 3-1 in the third and 3-1 in the fourth to cruise to the road victory.
