FRANKLIN, Mass. – April 15, 2023 - The Dean College softball team lost both games of Saturday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South doubleheader on Thursday. Regis won by scores of 7-6 and 15-1 (5 inn.)

Dean (2-21-1, 0-8 GNAC SOUTH) travels to Saint Joseph (CT) for a Sunday GNAC doubleheader at noon. Regis (10-14, 2-2 GNAC SOUTH) will host Johnson & Wales tomorrow at 2 p.m.

GAME ONE: Regis 7, Dean 6

The Pride opened the scoring in the second with a sac fly by Chloe Beland (Southborough, Mass.).

In the third, Andria Braga (Rehoboth, Mass.) singled home Bianca Burke (Cambridge, Mass.) and then scored on a double by Diana Petrarca (Coventry, R.I.) to put Regis in front 3-0.

Regis added a run in the fifth and then three more in the sixth. Senior Alex Page (New Boston, N.H.) had the big hit in the sixth with a two-run single.

Dean didn't go quietly as the team broke through for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit to 7-4. Junior Jilian Glynn (Londonderry, N.H.) and senior Sarah Graeff (Petersham, Mass.) had RBI singles, while junior Meredith Landers (Littleton, Mass.) doubled in the Bulldogs' fourth run. Senior Jaylee Martinez (Pawtucket, R.I.) also had an RBI on a fielder's choice.

After a scoreless top of the seventh, Dean pulled closer in the bottom half. Senior Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) hit a two-run blast, which scored senior Alex Marie (Danvers, Mass.), to make the score 7-6. Senior Gianna Bencivengo (White Plains, N.Y.) followed with a base hit, but the rally was thwarted when Regis pitcher Alyssa Ward (Webster, Mass.) retired the next batter to end the game.
Page led the Pride with a couple of hits and two RBIs.

Marie went 2 for 3 with two runs. Albury finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs.

GAME TWO: Regis 15, Dean 1 (5 inn.)

In the second, the Pride added three more runs via the home run. Lexi Nichols (Granby, Conn.) hit a solo shot, while Petrarca blasted a two-run homer to put Regis on top 6-0.

In the bottom of the second, Dean's Sari Albury responded with a solo home run, her second long ball of the day.

Regis answered with a run in the third and then added three in the fourth.

In the fifth, Regis took a 15-1 lead with five more runs. Nichols hit a second home run of the game with a two-run long ball to help secure the victory for the road team.
