PROVIDENCE, R.I. – April 11, 2023 – The Dean College men's lacrosse team was outlasted by Johnson & Wales (JWU) 12-11 in overtime under the lights Tuesday evening. 
Tonight's meeting was the second consecutive 12-11 overtime victory by JWU over the Bulldogs. The previous matchup came in last year's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament quarterfinal in Franklin.
Dean (7-4, 3-4 GNAC) returns home next Tuesday to host Rivier. JWU (10-2, 5-1 GNAC) hosts Rivier on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Junior 
Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) led the Bulldogs with four goals and two assists. Sophomore 
Jason Richard (Holden, Mass.) added three goals and an assist. Junior 
Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, Conn.) finished with two goals and three assists.
The faceoff circle featured the GNAC's top two specialists. Dean junior 
Tyler Benedetto (Jupiter, Fla.) won 11-of-26, while JWU senior Mike Catuosco (Commack, N.Y.) won 15-of-25.
Junior Brent Rickett (Portland, Maine) and sophomore Jackson Vecchio (Long Island, N.Y.) had three goals apiece to lead the Wildcats. Senior Noah Fye (Concord, N.H.) contributed two goals and two assists.

James Rollins (Old Lyme, Conn.) and JWU sophomore Trent Madigan (Ayer, Mass.) each made nine saves.
The Bulldogs scored the first four goals of the game before JWU got on the board with the final tally of the first quarter.
Fye opened the second frame to cut the Dean lead to 4-2, but Alvarez-Segee answered with two goals to give the Bulldogs a 6-2 advantage at the half.
The Wildcats began the second half with four straight goals, including a pair by Vecchio. 
Jason Richard responded with three goals of his own in a span of 1:21 to put Dean back on top by a 9-6 margin. Vecchio notched his third of the game with six seconds on the clock for a 9-7 score after 45 minutes.
The teams alternated the first five goals of the fourth frame to make the score 11-10 in favor of Dean heading down the stretch. With less than a minute to play, Rickett found the back of the net to knot the game at 11-11 and send the game to overtime.
In the extra session, graduate student Joe McIntyre (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) found the game-winner with 1:47 showing on the clock.
