Softball Continues Spring Break Trip in South Carolina

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - March 7, 2023 - The Dean College softball team continued its spring break trip to South Carolina with two more games at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic on Tuesday against Blackburn and Eastern Nazarene.

The Bulldogs dropped a 6-0 game to Eastern Nazarene (2-2) and a 13-5 decision to Blackburn (3-2). Dean wraps up the trip on Wednesday with games against Penn State Mont Alto and Delaware Valley. 

EASTERN NAZARENE 6, DEAN 0

The Lions scored four times in the second and twice in the sixth to come away with their second victory of the season. 

Dean posted six hits on the afternoon with a pair each from seniors senior Alex Marie (Danvers, Mass.) and Gianna Bencivengo (White Plains, N.Y.). 

First-year Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, Mass.) also had a knock, while senior Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) went 1-for-2 with a couple of walks.

BLACKBURN 13, DEAN 5 (5 inn.) 

Sari Albury got things going in the first when she doubled in Alex Marie and Shirley Chan (Kowloon, Hong Kong). 

The Beavers then scored six times in their first at-bat and three more times in the second. 

Dean answered with three runs in the top of the third off a pair of Blackburn miscues. 

Blackburn added two runs in the third and single runs in the fourth and fifth to win the game 13-5. 

Marie led the Bulldogs with a pair of hits, while five other Dean players recorded a hit.
