Men's Volleyball Drops GNAC Road Match at Emerson

BOSTON, Mass. – March 23, 2023 – The Dean College men's volleyball team fell on the road to Emerson, 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Thursday. The Lions won by scores of 25-12, 25-19 and 25-17.

Dean (3-11, 0-6 GNAC) travels to Rivier on Saturday for a GNAC tri-match with the Raiders and Lasell. Emerson (8-10, 5-4 GNAC) hosts Wentworth and Colby-Sawyer on Saturday.

Sophomore Nunu Jackson (Fresno, Calif.) hit .400 to finish with five kills for the Bulldogs. First-year Hunter Armitage (Westerly, R.I.) finished with 17 assists and eight digs. First-year Arthur Felicio (Brazil) contributed four kills and a block. Sophomore Joey Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) picked up seven digs.

Emerson was led by junior Neiko Pittman's (Santa Clarita, Calif.) 11 kills. Freshman Ben Dorsey (Maple Glen, Pa.) hit. 400 for seven kills. Junior Luke Roehm (Westport, Conn.) added nine kills and three aces. Sophomore Bryson Beck (Fresno, Calif.) had a match best 10 digs.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first set, but Emerson used an 8-0 run to take command. The next several points went back and forth. With the score at 16-11, the home team went on a 9-1 run, capped by a Dorsey ace that closed out the set 25-12.

The second set was tight throughout as a Felicio kill kept the Bulldogs close at 18-15. Emerson then scored the next four points to take a 22-15 advantage. Dean scored three of the next four points, but the Lions secured the six-point victory after a Dorsey kill.

Dean led 11-8 in the third set before Emerson rattled off six straight points to lead by a 14-11 margin. The Bulldogs remained close as a Saski Sayue (Providence, R.I.) kill brought Dean within an 18-16 score. The home team finished the set on a 7-1 spurt to earn the 3-0 match victory.
