FRANKLIN, Mass. – February 18, 2023 – The Dean College women's basketball team fell to Regis College, 82-36, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season finale for both teams.
Prior to the game, senior
Allie Bezio (Wellfleet, Mass.) was honored for her years of hard work and dedication to Dean College and the women's basketball program. Team manager Jada Fields was also recognized.
Dean ends its season at 0-23 and 0-18. Regis improves to 12-12 overall and 12-6 in the GNAC and have secured a spot in next week's GNAC tournament.
Sophomore
Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) led Dean with 16 points. Sophomore
Amani Pressley (Long Island, N.Y.) added six points. Bezio finished with six rebounds, two points, a steal and a block.
Regis senior Pam Gonzalez (Revere, Mass.) led all players with 21 points, six assists and seven steals. Senior Olivia Pacheco (Waterford, Conn.) went 9-of-11 for 19 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Junior Courtney Doherty (Willimantic, Conn.) was the third Pride player in double figures with 16 points.
Pressley opened the scoring for the Bulldogs, but Regis responded with an 8-0 run, including five points from Gonzalez. The Pride later led 17-7 before Dean answered to close the quarter with a 10-2 run. Dean made 6-of-8 field goal attempts and received seven points from Viau. Gonzalez also scored seven for Regis.
Gonzalez continued to carry the Pride in the second quarter by scoring 12 of the team's 20 points. Regis pushed its halftime lead to 39-23 with a 20-6 advantage on the scoreboard in the second.
The visitors shot 9-of-19 in the third behind nine points from Doherty and seven from Pacheco as the lead increased to 62-34 after 30 minutes. Viau added seven points to her total for the Bulldogs.
Regis secured the victory by outscoring Dean 20-2 in the final quarter.
