HOPKINTON, N.H. – November 11, 2023 - The Dean College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2023 NCAA East Regional on Saturday held at the Hopkinton Fair Grounds.

Dean placed 33rd on the men's side and 34th on the women's side.

For the men, junior Colin Cleary (White Plains, N.Y.) was the first Dean runner to cross the finish line. He clocked in at 32:38.84 to place 203rd on the 8k course.

The Bulldogs then had a group finish from 214 to 217. Junior Sebastian Marsalese (New York, N.Y.) came away with a time of 35:25.28, followed by first-year Harrison Soep (Ipswich, Mass.) at 35:30.56, junior Mike Korizis (Churchville, Pa.) at 36:11.68 and senior Angus Lodge (Greenwich, Conn.) at 36:23.94.

First-year Ryan Fowler (McLean, Va.) was close behind in 219th place in a time of 37:51.68.

Senior Lance Bugaoan (Norwell, Mass.) completed the Dean lineup in 228th place at 46:08.50.

On the women's side, sophomore Kokoro Okada (Japan) was the top Dean finisher. She placed 209th overall with a time of 33:08.92.   

Junior Emma Cotsonas (Jamestown, R.I.) was next by clocking in at 36:26.29 for 223rd place.    

Sophomore Isabella Nitschke (Watertown, Mass.) covered the 6k course in a time of 38:37.39.  

Junior Tanya Spengler (Vienna, Va.) finished in 228th at 42:04.95.

Sophomore Helen Sanford (Deerfield, Mass.) – 229th, 42:56.09, sophomore Violet Smith (Madison, N.J.) – 230th, 43:28.88 and sophomore Cathy Wong (Brighton, Mass.) – 231st, 54:19.69 rounded out the Dean competitors.
