Driscoll Surpasses 1,000 Assists as Bulldogs Fall at New England College

HENNIKER, N.H. – October 3, 2023 – The Dean College women's volleyball team fell at Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe New England College, 3-1, by scores of 23-25, 25-9, 25-23 and 29-27.

Dean (5-13, 2-6 GNAC) is off until next Wednesday when the team will play at Wentworth at 6 p.m. New England College (7-8, 2-3 GNAC) travels to Mitchell on Saturday for a tri-match against the Mariners and Lasell.

Senior Bella Driscoll (Plymouth, Mass.) surpassed 1,000 career assists with 26 in tonight's match. She also had four aces and seven digs.

Senior Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) led the Bulldogs with 13 kills on .300 hitting to go with six blocks and three aces. Sophomore Caitlin Cooper (Amherst, N.H.) posted eight kills, while junior Janai Price (Providence, R.I.) finished with seven kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Sophomore Skylar Raskevitz (Easthampton, Mass.) led Dean with 16 digs.

Dean led 18-10 in the first set before NEC chipped away to tie the score at 21-21. The score was again tied at 23-23, but an attack error by the Pilgrims gave Dean set point. On the next rally, Albury ended things with a block for the 25-23 victory for the Bulldogs.

NEC turned things around in the second and hit .379 as a team with 14 kills en route to the 25-9 win.

In the third frame, the teams played evenly throughout with each team holding leads. With the score tied at 23-23, the Pilgrims were able to close out the set with a kill and a Dean attack error.

The Pilgrims raced out to an 11-2 lead in the fourth set, but the Bulldogs kept fighting and came all the way back to tie the score at 22-22. The score would be tied at 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27 before the home team came away with the win after a kill and an ace to clinch the set 29-27 and the match 3-1.
