Bulldogs Drop Homecoming Game to Anna Maria, 52-20

FRANKLIN, Mass. – October 21, 2023 – The Dean College football team fell to Anna Maria, 52-20, in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) action during homecoming weekend in rain-soaked conditions Saturday afternoon at Dale Lippert Field.

Dean (1-6, 0-1 ECFC) travels to Vermont State University Castleton next Saturday for a 4 p.m. conference game against the Spartans. Anna Maria (3-4, 1-1 ECFC) returns home next Saturday to host ECFC foe Gallaudet at noon.

Senior Jordan Mason (Stockbridge, Ga.) was named the Thomas "Butchie" Williams '75 Homecoming Game Most Valuable Player. He hauled in five catches for 85 yards. The award is named after a former student-athlete who passed away tragically on Homecoming in 1974 and is handed out annually to the Dean football student-athlete who is selected as to have had the most impact on the contest.

First-year quarterback Isaac Sisneros (Littleton, Colo.) finished 11-23, with two TDs and two INTs for the Bulldogs. Junior wide receiver Jalen Smith (San Francisco, Calif.) had two catches for 53 yards and a score, while junior tight end Doug Haines (Saylorsburg, Pa.) caught one ball for a 5-yard touchdown.  

Senior linebacker Des Dias (Rochester, Mass.) led all players with 13 tackles. Senior Dre Kidd (Manassas, Va.) and first-year Kevin Smith Jr. (Libert City, Fla.) each had seven tackles.

Sophomore Andrew Liverman (Union City, N.J.) also scored a touchdown on a 78-yard kickoff return.

Anna Maria quarterback Ryan Russell (West Springfield, Mass.) threw for 307 yards and five touchdowns. Junior Justin Brown (Hamden, Conn.) rushed for 154 yards and two scores. Sophomore Jamal Cariglia (South Portland, Maine) also gobbled up 106 yards on the ground. Senior wideout Deandre Wallace (Waterbury, Conn.) led all pass catchers with six grabs for 181 yards and two touchdowns, including a 94-yard catch and run. Junior Davien Atkinson (Central Islip, N.Y.) also caught two touchdowns for 47 yards.
