FRANKLIN, Mass. – Dean College senior student-athlete Zoë Coleman represented the Bulldogs and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as a delegate at the recently held NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas.

Coleman, a member of the Dean field hockey and softball teams, joined many other delegates from the GNAC Commissioner's Council as the team attended forums, discussion panels and presentations that featured leaders of collegiate athletics from around the country.
"This experience was nothing short of informational and amazing, as I was able to have a firsthand look at how business is conducted at a higher level within the NCAA, and Division III Athletics," said Coleman.
"While in Texas, I was fortunate enough to converse with, and learn from notable professionals, one being Dr. Margaret Tieman. Dr. Tieman guided us in a results-based discussion of the DISC assessment, teaching us more about ourselves, our teammates, as well as demonstrating the different ways to combat conflict in the different settings."
Some events Coleman and other GNAC representatives had the chance to attend included:
- DIII Issues Forum
- GNAC Conference Meeting with AD's and Presidents
- Special Olympics Unified Sports
- Women of the Year Luncheon
- Special Rules of Order Business Session
- DISC Assessment with Dr. Margaret
- Saluting Excellence Luncheon
"Something that became apparent early on at the convention, was just how important one voice is, and the difference it can make! Each voice creates a mark, and when those voices and opinions come together, either in solitude or discord, it creates an environment in which we can listen to each other, learn, and create an effective change, one in which is geared towards the student athletes."

"I am forever thankful for this opportunity to work on the Commissioner's Council, while helping reflect change within Division III Athletics! I want to thank the GNAC for this amazing opportunity, as well as Dean College Athletics and the NCAA!"
