NORTHFIELD, Vt. – September 30, 2022 – The Dean College women's volleyball team earned a split at Friday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match hosted by Norwich. Dean came from behind to pick up its first conference victory over the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) by a 3-2 score. The Bulldogs were then defeated by Norwich 3-0.
Dean (3-15, 1-5 GNAC) continues conference play on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. match at Simmons.
DEAN 3, SAINT JOSEPH 2 – 21-25, 8-25, 25-22, 25-12, 17-15
The Bulldogs earned their first win in four all-time meetings against Saint Joseph. Dean erased a two-set deficit to win the next three for the team's first conference victory of the season.
Senior
Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) recorded 13 kills on .400 hitting to go with three blocks. Sophomore
Emily Larouche (Agawam, Mass.) tallied nine kills and 12 digs. First-year
Skylar Raskevitz (Easthampton, Mass.) collected a career and match best 32 digs. Junior
Bella Driscoll (Plymouth, Mass.) posted her second highest assist total of the season with 32.
In Dean's 25-12 fourth-set win, the team hit .412 with 12 kills on 24 attempts.
Shannon Carey posted a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs to lead the Blue Jays. Hannah Benson was second on the team with 11 kills. Natalia Rabassa had a team best 31 digs. Nicole Albert filled the box score with 15 assists, 11 digs and five aces.
NORWICH 3, DEAN 0 – 25-19, 25-12, 25-4
Sari Albury led Dean with six kills and a couple of blocks.
Skylar Raskevitz picked up another 16 digs. Sophomore
Lena Muraski (Manchester, Conn.) contributed five assists, four digs and three blocks.
Ana Lopez paced the Cadets with 11 kills on .292 hitting. Laura Farnum had a match-high 24 digs. Sarah Farnum ran the offense with 33 assists.
