WESTON, Mass. - April 19, 2022 - Dean College junior Maire Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) scored nine times to lead the women's lacrosse team to an 18-15 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road win at Regis under the lights Tuesday evening.

Dean improves to 4-9 overall and 4-7 in the conference after tonight's win in the first ever meeting with Regis. The Bulldogs return home on Saturday for an important conference contest against Rivier at 4 p.m. Regis falls to 2-12 overall and 2-9 in the GNAC.

After posting a program record 13 points in a win against Lasell, Brown came away with the second most points in a game with 10 tonight on nine goals and an assist. She now has 61 career goals. Brown added a game best nine draw controls. First-year Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, Mass.) contributed five goals, an assist, four draw controls and four ground balls. Junior Jazzy Sztyler-Magee (Burlington, Conn.) added two goals, two assists and a team-high six ground balls.

Regis was led by Morgan Pero. She tallied seven goals, one assist and six draw controls. Kylee Marley and Isabella Beane added a hat trick apiece.

Junior Jada Fields (Acushnet, Mass.) earned the win in goal for the Bulldogs with 10 saves. Grace Heffernan made 16 saves for Regis.

The first quarter was back-and-forth as each team found rhythm on the offensive side of the field. Regis led 6-5 after 15 minutes.

Trailing 8-6 in the second, Dean finished the frame with goals from Brown and Natalie Peterson (Hudson, Mass.) to head into the halftime break tied at 8-8.

The Bulldogs carried the momentum into the third as Brown scored three-straight to give Dean an 11-8 lead. Regis got two back, but Medeiros scored two of the final three goals in the quarter to keep Dean with a 13-11 lead heading into the fourth.

Goals by Brown and Medeiros to begin the final frame gave Dean a 15-11 advantage, but Regis battled back to pull within 16-15 after a goal by Marley with less than five minutes to play. The Dean defense held strong, while Medeiros and Sztyler-Magee added insurance goals for the Bulldogs to hold on for the 18-15 victory.
