ALBANY, N.Y. – March 2, 2022 - The Dean College men's lacrosse team scored seven times in the second quarter en route to an 11-4 road win at Russell Sage College on Wednesday evening.
Dean improves to 2-0 and will welcome Mitchell to Grant Field on Tuesday for a noon start. Sage falls to 1-3. The Gators play at Mitchell on Friday at 3 p.m.
Sophomore attack
Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) led the Bulldogs with four goals. Junior
Greg Centeio (Fairhaven, Mass.) registered three goals and an assist, while sophomore
Alec Speirs (Old Lyme, Conn.) added one goal and three assists. Freshman
Ryan Clunie (North Andover, Mass.) finished with three assists. Sophomore
Kyle Ingram (Chicopee, Mass.) picked up a game best seven ground balls.
Senior midfielder Shea Obado (Spotswood, N.J.) registered a hat trick to go with five ground balls and three caused turnovers to lead the Gators.
Senior
Alexander Govoni (Lakeville, Mass.) earned the win with nine saves for Dean. Senior goalie Michael Capitelli (Oceanside, N.Y.) had 14 stops for Sage in the loss.
Centeio scored the lone goal of the first quarter before the Dean attack erupted for seven in the second. RSC got on the board in the second, but the Bulldogs had a comfortable 8-1 lead at the half.
The Gators scored the first two goals of the third, but Dean answered with two from the sticks of Alvarez-Segee and freshman
Jason Richard (Holden, Mass.).
Each team added a goal in the fourth to account for the 11-4 final.
