FRANKLIN, Mass. – February 5, 2022 – Trailing 61-55 with 2:09 left to play, the Dean College men's basketball team finished the game on a 9-0 run to secure a 64-61 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Regis.
Dean improves to 6-13 overall and 1-11 in the GNAC. The Bulldogs' next game is at Regis on Tuesday. Regis drops to 8-10 overall and 5-7 in the conference. The Pride travels to Anna Maria on Monday before hosting Dean on Tuesday.

Traijan Powell (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) began the comeback with a jumper and then forced a turnover to lead to a fast break bucket by

Winston Bryan (Greensboro, S.C.) tied the game at 61-61 with 47 seconds left in the game. Junior
Jonathon Larson (Oxnard, Calif.) made one a free throw with 25 seconds left and senior
Nick Sampeck (Blanco, Texas) iced the game with a pair of freebies with four ticks on the clock. A desperation three-pointer at the buzzer came up short for the Pride.
Powell finished with a team best 18 points to go with eight rebounds and four steals for the Bulldogs. Bryan added 14 points, while Zhuta contributed 10 points off the bench.
Regis was led by a double-double from senior Marc Trinidad (Bronx, N.Y.). He posted 22 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. First-year Russell Rau (Fitchburg, Mass.) recorded 11 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Joshua Perez (Lynn, Mass.) finished with 11 points, while junior Cameron Wilkins (Taunton, Mass.) was the fourth Pride in double figures with 10 points.
The game was tied 18-18 midway through the first half. Dean then went on a 12-3 run to take a 30-21 lead with 5:16 left. Back-to-back three-pointers by the Pride pulled the visitors within a bucket, 30-27. Dean finished the half on a 14-3 run, including a Powell trey as time was expiring, to take a 44-30 lead at the half.
Regis benefited from the deep ball in the first with six of their 10 made baskets coming from beyond the arc. Dean did damage in the paint, scoring 24 points. Powell had 12 in the first frame to lead all players.
The Bulldogs held a 54-42 lead with 10:39 left to play before Regis began to chip away. The Pride held Dean off the scoreboard for the next seven minutes and erased the deficit to take a 58-54 lead after a three-point play by Trinidad.
