Women's Basketball Falls to Albertus Magnus

FRANKLIN, Mass. – December 7, 2022 – The Dean College women's basketball team was defeated by Albertus Magnus, 75-46, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game Wednesday night in Pieri Gymnasium.

Dean (0-6, 0-2 GNAC) hosts Johnson & Wales on Saturday at 1 p.m. Albertus Magnus (6-0, 2-0 GNAC) travels to Norwich on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip against the Cadets.  

Sophomore Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) led the Bulldogs with 17 points. Sophomore Tori Andrewski (North Sutton, N.H.) posted her second-straight double-double with 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Senior Sitaara Muhammad (Cambridge, Mass.) added 12 points.

Albertus Magnus received 19 points from junior Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.). Sophomore Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) registered a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Diamond White (Hamden, Conn.) added 13 points, while freshman Adrianna Faienza (New Britain, Conn.) chipped in 11 points.

The Falcons soared from the opening tip with a strong first quarter. The visitors shot 55% (11-20) to outscore Dean 26-4 in the first 10 minutes of action. White had nine points for Albertus Magnus.

Viau scored eight points for the Bulldogs in the second quarter, while Scott put in seven for Albertus Magnus to help the Falcons to a 17-12 margin and a 43-16 lead at the half.

In the third, Muhammad scored seven of Dean's 13 points and Scott recorded seven points for the second quarter in a row. Albertus Magnus made eight baskets and Dean made six as the Falcons won the frame by a 19-13 score.

Dean came away with a 17-13 edge on the scoreboard in the fourth behind 50% shooting from the floor and held Albertus Magnus to 30.8%. Andrewski had six points and five rebounds for the Bulldogs.
