MEDFORD, Mass. – November 22, 2022 – The Dean College women's basketball team was topped by Lesley, 75-54, in a road contest held at Medford High School Tuesday evening.
Dean (0-4) travels to Wentworth next Monday for a 6 p.m. tip against the Leopards. Lesley improved to 2-4.
Sophomore
Tori Viau (Johnston, R.I.) tied a career-high with 19 points to lead all players tonight. Sophomore
Cat Thomas (Woodbridge, Conn.) made 6-of-9 field goals and 5-of-7 free throws to finish with 17 points. She added a game best nine rebounds.
Alexandra Kerley led the Lynx with 14 points and eight rebounds. Paige Stowers tallied 12 points and six assists. Annika Herbert and Sophia Torres also reached double figures with 11 points apiece.
Dean outscored the home team 19-15 in the first 10 minutes. Viau scored six points, while Thomas recorded four points, four rebounds and two assists to give the Bulldogs a 4-point cushion.
Lesley answered with a strong second quarter behind accurate shooting. The Lynx went 11-of-19 from the floor and held Dean to 26.7% to win the quarter by a 24-9 margin. Thomas added five points for Dean, while Kerley and Stowers each scored eight points for Lesley who took a 39-28 lead into the halftime break.
The Lynx widened the lead with a 13-4 advantage on the scoreboard in the third quarter.
In a high scoring fourth frame, the deficit for the Bulldogs proved to be too much to overcome. Lesley held a slim 23-22 edge in fourth-quarter scoring to come away with the 75-54 victory. Viau poured in 13 points in the final 10 minutes for Dean.
