PAXTON, Mass. – October 1, 2022 - The Dean College women's soccer team tied Anna Maria, 1-1, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday morning.

Dean (1-5-3, 0-4-2 GNAC) continues a four-game road trip on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. GNAC contest at the University of Saint Joseph. Anna Maria (4-5-1, 1-4-1 GNAC) will host Simmons on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs struck first in the 18th minute when senior Jazzy Sztyler-Magee (Burlington, Conn,) scored from a tough angle on the right side of the box. The goal was her sixth of the season.

In the final minute of the first half, Anna Maria was granted a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Senior DeAnna Baker (Lansdale, Pa.) successfully converted the try to knot the game at 1-1 heading into the break.

Neither team could muster a dangerous scoring opportunity in the second half, resulting in the 1-1 draw.

Sophomore Haley Gaunt (Johnston, R.I.) preserved the tie with 10 saves for the Bulldogs. Senior Alice Yokabaskas (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) finished with one save for Anna Maria.

The AMCATS held a 19-2 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
