PAXTON, Mass. – October 1, 2022 – Anna Maria scored the game's lone goal with less than eight minutes to play to defeat the Dean College men's soccer team in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday evening.
Dean (4-4-1, 2-3-1 GNAC) returns home on Wednesday to host the University of Saint Joseph at 3:30 p.m. Anna Maria (1-5-2, 1-2-2 GNAC) hosts Norwich on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
After Dean was whistled for an offside that halted play, Anna Maria's restart came from deep in its defensive end. The AMCATS defender sent the ball down the other end of the field and found Oluwafifehan Badejo who then sprinted away from the Dean defenders. Badejo then scored into the right side of the net as the Bulldogs keeper came out to challenge. The goal was scored with 7:13 remaining in the contest.
Dean finished the game with a 21-7 advantage in shots (11-4 on goal) and a 7-0 margin in corner kicks.
David Flores earned the clean sheet for the AMCATS with 11 saves. Dean junior keeper
Alberto Gonzalez Del Rio (Madrid, Spain) picked up a couple of saves in the loss.
