Men's Basketball Defeated at Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – January 26, 2022 – The Dean College men's basketball dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest at Albertus Magnus, 89-57, Wednesday night.    

Dean falls to 5-10 overall and 0-8 in the GNAC. The Bulldogs' next game against Lasell has been moved to Friday at 4 p.m. Albertus Magnus improves to 9-4 overall and 7-1 in the conference. The Falcons are scheduled to host Johnson & Wales on Saturday.

Junior Mark Blair (Rosedale, N.Y.) posted his third-straight double-double and 10th of the season to pace the Bulldogs. He finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and three assists. Sophomore Shim Daniels (New Haven, Conn.) added seven points, three rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Giovanni Memnon (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) score five points in four minutes off the bench.

Albertus Magnus was led by Isaiah Lewis' 19 points. Terry Dawkins posted a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Davon Warner added 15 points on five three-pointers.

The home team led 16-14, nine minutes into the game, before creating separation over the next several minutes. A 13-4 run gave the Falcons a 29-18 advantage with six minutes to play in the first. Winston Bryan (Greensboro, N.C.) stopped the run for Dean with a jumper in the paint. Albertus Magnus then finished the half on a 16-9 run to take a 45-29 lead into the break.

The second half was similar as the Falcons outscored Dean 44-28 en route to the 89-57 victory.  

Albertus Magnus used the outside shot to protect its home court. The Falcons made 12-of-34 attempts from beyond the arc, while Dean was 3-of-11 from deep.
