FRANKLIN, Mass. – January 18, 2022 – The Dean College women's basketball team returned to the court for the first time since December 11 to host Johnson & Wales for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest. JWU received 41 points off the bench to earn the 64-27 road win Tuesday evening.
Dean falls to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Bulldogs will play their second of three games this week on Thursday when the University of Saint Joseph comes to Pieri Gymnasium for a 6 p.m. tip. Johnson & Wales wins its first game of the season to improve to 1-10 overall and 1-4 in the GNAC. The Wildcats host Albertus Magnus on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Junior Peyton Ryan (Nashua, N.H.) led three Wildcats in double figures off the bench with 12 points. Sophomore Autumn Ford (Brooklyn, N.H.) scored 11, while sophomore Sarah Wisniewski (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished with 10. First-year Rose Hockman (Morris Plains, N.J.) contributed six points, nine rebounds and six steals.
In a high scoring first quarter, the visitors shot 9-21 from the floor, which included 3-7 from beyond the arc to lead 22-13 after 10 minutes. Ryan tallied nine of her 12 points in the frame, while Thomas scored six to lead the Bulldogs.
The Wildcats turned up the defense in the second to hold Dean to two field goals and turn six Bulldog miscues into 10 points to lead 36-18 at the half.
JWU was able to keep the pressure on in the third (12-4) and fourth (16-5) quarters to secure the 64-27 victory.
