Box Score FRANKLIN, Mass. - Sept. 22, 2021 - The Dean College men's soccer team fell to non-conference foe Rhode Island College, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon at Lippert Field.
RIC improves to 4-2 and returns to Little East Conference (LEC) play on Saturday at Castleton. Dean falls to 2-5 and will resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Sunday against Anna Maria at 1 p.m.
The visitors put a goal across in the seventh minute when junior Brandon Ramos (Boston, Mass.) set up junior Luis Blanco (Pawtucket, R.I.) for his first goal of the season.
In the 67th minute, Ramos and Blanco teamed up to give Samuel Talavera (Providence, R.I.) a scoring chance. Talavera did the rest and ripped a shot into the left corner of the net to give the Anchormen a 2-0 lead.
RIC added two more scores in the final 10 minutes of the match. Senior Jonathan Oliveira (Providence, R.I.) finished a feed from freshman Roy Barrios (Pawtucket, R.I.) in the 82nd minute, while freshman Aidan Moriarty (Wakefield, R.I.) registered his first collegiate tally with 18 seconds left on the clock.
Senior Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick R.I.) earned the shutout with four saves. Dean senior goalkeeper Bryce Antoch (Cranston, R.I.) made seven saves in the loss.
Dean held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks, while RIC outshot the Bulldogs 18-8.
