Box Score FRANKLIN, Mass. - Sept. 15, 2021 - The Dean College men's soccer team dropped a non-conference match to Emerson, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon at Lippert Field.
Emerson improves to 1-2-1 and will begin New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday at noon at Springfield. Dean falls to 2-3 and will resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday at the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) with a 3 p.m. start time.
In the 10th minute, Emerson's RJ Dziejma (Flanders, N.J.) put the visitors on top with his first score of the season as he beat the goalie into the right side of the net.
The next 50 minutes went scoreless as the teams battled for sustained possession.
The Lions doubled their advantage in the 60th minute when sophomore Ben Deeming (Annadale, N.J.) flicked a pass with his heel to freshman Gianluca Mejia (Miami, Fla.) who finished into an open net for the 2-0 lead.
A few minutes later, Dean had a couple of chances from Kazu Noguchi (Hyogo, Japan) and freshman Ryan Bell (Pamyra, Maine) but neither could cut into the deficit.
Emerson senior James Suvak (Winchester, Mass.) tacked on an insurance goal in the 70th minute when he finished a feed from sophomore Thomas Chuaqui (El Cerrito, Calif.).
Freshman Jacob Ramer (Los Angeles, Calif.) earned the victory for Emerson with three saves. Dean senior goalkeeper Bryce Antoch (Cranston, R.I.) finished with five saves.
