FRANKLIN, Mass. – December 7, 2021 – The Dean College men's basketball team fell to Bridgewater State, 87-77, in non-conference action inside Pieri Gymnasium Tuesday evening.
Bridgewater State head coach Joe Farroba recorded his 400th career win in 30 seasons on the Bears' sideline.
Dean falls to 5-3. The Bulldogs wrap up the first semester with a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road game at Lasell on Saturday with a 4 p.m. tip. Bridgewater State has won two in a row to improve to 2-8. The Bears will play a pair of games at the Eastern Holiday Invitational hosted by Eastern Connecticut State on Dec. 30-31.
The Bears were led by a 28-point performance from senior Alan Pettway (Worcester, Mass.). Freshman center Camden Dunbury (Pocasset, Mass.) scored 16 points. Sophomore Keyth Key (Springfield, Mass.) registered a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Stanley Pierre-Louis (Roxbury, Mass.) also finished with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 15+ minutes off the bench.

Mark Blair (Rosedale, N.Y.) led all players with a season-high 29 points on 13-20 shooting. He added a game best 15 rebounds to record his sixth double-double of the season. Sophomore
Shim Daniels (New Haven, Conn.) poured in 18 points on 8-12 shooting in 18 minutes off the bench. Junior
Hunter Meyer (Taylor Mill, Ky.) contributed 14 points and seven rebounds.
Tonight's game was a tale of two halves. Dean shot 56% from the floor in the first and scored 28 points in the paint. The Bulldogs were in front by as much as 12 in the first 20 minutes and held BSU to 36% shooting. Dean led 46-37 at the half.
In the second half, the Bears flipped the script and shot 61% and held Dean to 35%. BSU also won the rebounding battle in the frame, 24-19, and turned eight offensive boards into 11 second chance points.
The visitors began the second on a 22-4 run, capped by a Pettway fast break layup, to take a 59-50 lead. Dean fought back to take a 65-64 lead with a
Winston Bryan (Greensboro, N.C.) lay-in with 10 minute to play. After another Pettway jumper gave the Bears the lead, they would hold the advantage for the remaining 8:44 en route to the 87-77 win.
