FRANKLIN, Mass. – October 10, 2021 – The Dean College women's volleyball team fell to Regis College, 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match in Pieri Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. The Pride won by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-16.
Dean drops to 3-13 overall and 1-6 in the GNAC. The Bulldogs step out of conference play to host Lesley on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Regis improves to 13-5 overall and climb to 5-2 in the GNAC standings. The Pride will host Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. first serve.
Regis received six kills apiece from junior Rita Dow (Nashua, N.H.), senior Valerie Whalen (Stoughton, Mass.) and first-year Kai Berning (Corvallis, Ore.). Junior setter Karly Sanborn (Gilmanton, N.H.) finished with 20 assists. Sophomore Ahnasia McKinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) hit .400 with five kills.

Emily Ball (Feeding Hills, Mass.) led the Bulldogs with four kills. Junior
Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) posted three kills and four blocks. Sophomore Annabella Driscoll (Plymouth, Mass.) had six assists, two aces and three digs. Senior
Amanda Payne (Millis, Mass.) recorded a match best 10 digs.
Regis used a strong service game en route to seven aces in the first set. The Pride also posted 10 kills in the frame with three from Whalen and Dow to take the 25-15 win. Sophomore
Jenny Galley (Pembroke, Mass.) and Ball put down a pair of kills for the Bulldogs.
The visitors were efficient on the attack in the second to a tune of .500 hitting. The Pride posted 13 kills, five of them coming from McKinney, to take the second set 25-14. Albury had a pair of kills for Dean. The Bulldogs also benefited from seven Regis service errors.
The third set went back and forth with six ties and five lead changes before Regis used a 4-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. After a
Janai Price (Providence, R.I.) ace pulled Dean to within 12-10, the Pride rattled off 12 straight points to take control at 24-10. The Bulldogs didn't give up and answered with a 6-0 run, including a pair of aces by Driscoll, but Regis got the match clincher on a Samantha Silveira (East Taunton, Mass.) kill to close the third set 25-16.
