THE LEAD:
Lilly Loparto scored three goals and assisted another as the Rhode Island College Anchorwomen prevailed 5-1 over the Dean College Bulldogs in the second game of the 2019 Bulldog Bash at Lippert Field in Franklin, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a back and forth battle for the first thirty five minutes, Rhode Island College broke through on a strike off the left foot of Lily Loparto, who took a feed from Soleil Galagarza on the left wing and drilled the far side upper corner.
A late chance for the Bulldogs was thwarted by stout Anchorwomen defense and the action entered the halftime break with 1-0 Rhode Island College lead.
The second half opened with furious action, as Rhode Island College immediately extended their advantage to two goals when Loparto got free in the middle and buried another lefty strike off the inside post and in. She was assisted by Madeline McNally (47:31).
The Bulldogs countered moments later when Mackenzie Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) launched a through pass to Miranda Seacord (Cambridge, N.Y.) who outran the defense and slipped a shot past Carissa Gaglione for Dean's first goal of the season (47:45).
With 35 minutes to play, Bulldog keeper Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) stole a scoring opportunity from the Anchorwomen, diving across the goal to deny Alyson Morris on a 1v1.
Dean had a golden opportunity in the 65th minute when Allison Buckley (Guilford, Vt.) led Linsdey Adams (Cranston, R.I.) down the right side, but Gaglione closed the angle and denied the opportunity.
The visitors added some insurance in the 72nd minute when Loparto fed Alexandra Amore for her first goal of the season. Later, Loparto added her third tally on an assist from Kat Carrillo.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Seacord's goal was the sophomore's first of the season. Parissee finished with nine saves in 90 minutes of action. Rhode Island College outshot the hosts 25 to 4.
