HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Shania Springer (Bayshore, N.Y.) made a layup as time expired in the first quarter to give the Bulldogs a 14-13 lead after one. The teams traded baskets and were tied five different times throughout the period.
- The second quarter followed a similar path to the first, with the teams trading hoops and Dean scoring late to take a one point lead into the break. This time it was Emma Morrison (Northport, N.Y.) who finished a layup off a feed from Turner and gave Dean a 22-21 halftime lead.
- Back to back buckets from Turner early in the third gave Dean its biggest lead of the night at 30-23 with seven minutes remaining in the quarter. Becker rallied to tie the game at 32 and 34 but never took the lead. Two straight hoops, including a three pointer, from Cassidy Harrison cut the Bulldogs lead down to three with 3:38 remaining, but the Hawks would get no closer. Dean closed the game out on an 8-2 run and earned the road victory.
